Please visit http://onyen.unc.edu (note, no www) and choose the first option: Create an Onyen.
- You will need to read the terms of agreement and check the appropriate box at the bottom.
- Identify yourself using your last name and your PID. If you do not know your PID, you can look it up here.
- Once you have created your Onyen, you will automatically have created an email account that is youronyen@email.unc.edu.
Since onyens are often cryptic, you should create an alias email account.
- At http://onyen.unc.edu, scroll down to the Electronic Mail Management menu and choose the fourth option: Set Email Alias.
- Choose the first option: Create or modify an email alias for an email.unc.edu email address.
- Choose "Add an alias for youronyen@email.unc.edu"
- Create
an alias that is your firstname_lastname so that it will be very clear
who emails are going to and coming from. This is actually the best way
for your family and friends to remember your e-mail, too, since the @
part of your address is just unc.edu instead of email.unc.edu. For
example, Ms. Keck’s Onyen is dpkeck, so her default email address is
dpkeck@email.unc.edu, but who can remember that? So she has an alias
that is dama_keck@unc.edu and it is very clear who that e-mail belongs
to.
All correspondence between the Class of 2012 and the School of Pharmacy will be sent using official University resources. Please
note that you will be unable to create an Onyen until your
pre-enrollment deposit has been received by the University Cashiers
Office.
