The Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy studies the effectiveness and costs of medications, how patients take their medications, and impact of drug policies on health outcomes of vulnerable people. The division focuses its research on health outcomes of patients with chronic medical conditions and the roles of pharmacists in medication therapy management. Faculty have strong ties to the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, the UNC School of Public Health, UNC Hospitals, and the Durham VA that facilitate their collaborative research on a wide array of policy trends and health-care outcomes.

Mission

We improve medication use and health care through innovative health outcomes research, postgraduate training and professional education, and service. This division focuses its research and teaching in pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, behavioral sciences, and health services research as contributors to pharmaceutical outcomes research.

Vision

We will be recognized as innovators and leaders in pharmaceutical outcomes research through our strong collaborative research network and train the next generation of leaders in pharmacy.
