Sam Lai: Stopping Viruses in Mucous Membranes

Assistant professor Samuel "Sam" Lai, PhD, has received a Grand Challenges Explorations grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to explore how viruses penetrate the body's protective mucous membranes. He hopes that what he learns will lead to better vaccines and microbicides.
