My research group consists of:

  • Dr. Xiuling Lu, a biochemical engineer who was a posdoctoral fellow in my lab at the University of Kentucky for the past two years. She is appointed as a Research Assistant Professor and is the recipient of a prestigious fellowship from the Society of Nuclear Medicine to work on dual imaging-therapeutic nanovectors.
  • Dr. Jonathan Fitzsimmons, a radiochemist who recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Los Alamos National Laboratories. He is appointed as a Research Associate and will lead our project on radionuclide decorporation agents.
  • Dr. Weiling He, a pharmaceutical scientist who recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Duke.  She brings expertise in drug development, formualtion and pharmacokinetics.
  • Mr. Katsuhiko (‘K’) Sueda, a first-year student who is currently working at GlaxoSmithKline. K earned an M.S. in pharmaceutical engineering and brings extensive experience with formulation and product development.
  • Mr. Yong Zhang, a first-year student.  Yong has an M.S. in organic chemistry and worked at GlaxoSmithKline for five years, most recently on the pilot plant/scale up of synthetic processes.
  • Mr. Joshua Scott, a Research Specialist who serves as the Laboratory Animal Coordinator and Lab Manager for our group. Josh has a B.S. degree in Lab Animal Sciences and worked at GlaxoSmithKlimne for two years before joing our group.
  • Others: I continue to direct the thesis of a graduate student, Ms. Melissa Howard, at the University of Kentucky, where she holds an NSF IGERT Fellowship. I am also the coadvisor of another Ph.D. student, Ms.Catheleeya Mekjaruskul, at Khon Kaen University in Thailand. I truly enjoy working with students and have had the pleasure to have trained approximately 25 M.S. and Ph.D. students as well as 20 postdoctoral fellows and many undergraduate students. I am looking to add more graduate students to my lab.
