Yan Gao
YAN GAO
Yan Gao was born in Harbin, China. She received her B.Sc. degree in pharmaceutical sciences from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University in 1999. She then went to United Kingdom to pursue further education. She enrolled in the School of Life & Health Sciences, Aston University in Birmingham, where she obtained M.S. in medicinal chemistry in 2001. From 2002 to 2005, she earned her doctorate on total synthesis of natural products under the supervision of Professor Thomas Wirth at Cardiff University. In 2006, she moved across the Atlantic to Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Yan is currently a post doctoral fellow in Dr. Thakker's lab in the Division of Molecular Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy, UNC-Chapel Hill. Outside of the laboratory, Yan enjoys reading and photography.
