Optimization of antimicrobial therapy through evaluation of inpatient antimicrobial use, drug interactions, medication adherence, and pharmacokinetics.
Ralph H. Raasch, Pharm. D., FCCP, BCPS, is associate professor of pharmacy and clinical associate professor of medicine. He is vice-chair for clinical education for the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics, and chair of the Scientific Research Advisory Committee of the General Clinical Research Center. Dr. Raasch’s research focus has been in patient-oriented research to improve the efficiency of antimicrobial and antiretroviral therapy. He has served as co-director of the UNC Clinical Research Curriculum Program (K30 Award) since 2000, and as co-principal investigator for the Carolina Collaborative (Duke-UNC) Pediatric Pharmacology Research Unit since 2003. Dr. Raasch maintains an active clinical and educational practice as a clinical specialist in infectious diseases at UNC Hospitals. He was elected Fellow in ACCP in November 2000.
