Clinical research of drugs used in heart failure
Herb Patterson is a professor of pharmacy and a research associate professor of medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his BS and PharmD degrees from the University of Tennessee and, after completing a residency, joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy in 1981. Since that time, he has focused his research, teaching, and clinical activities on cardiovascular pharmacotherapy with a special emphasis on heart failure. He has been active in the UNC Heart Failure Program since its inception in 1984 ,serving as an investigator on numerous heart failure clinical trials.
Dr. Patterson is a member of the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, and the Heart Failure Society of America. He is a fellow in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and has served as a member of the Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee for the Heart Failure Society.
