The School of Pharmacy is a short distance from the General Clinical Research Center, the combination of which provides an ideal setting for the conduction of translational research projects. Dr. Paine’s research interests include clinical pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism and transport, and pharmacogenetics. She is currently investigating pharmacokinetic mechanisms underlying drug-drug and drug-diet interactions.
Dr. Paine received her BS in pharmacy at Oregon State University. She practiced as a hospital staff pharmacist for three years before entering the graduate program in the Department of Pharmaceutics at the University of Washington. After receiving her PhD, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Watkins at the University of Michigan. Dr. Paine is currently serving as director of the School of Pharmacy's Cellular Metabolism and Transport Core and as secretary of the RTP Drug Metabolism Discussion Group.
