2007 Fall Reunion

More than 230 alumni and family members returned to the School of Pharmacy on October 13 for the 2007 PAA Fall Reunion. Tours of Kerr and Beard halls were provided by current pharmacy students, and a barbecue lunch was held on the lawn. Following lunch, attendees ventured to Kenan Stadium to watch the Tar Heels take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in Kenan Stadium. The Tar Heels lost the game 21-15, but they put up a good fight against the nationally-ranked Gamecocks.

2007 PAA Golf Tournament

More than eighty School alumni, faculty, and industry representatives gathered October 15 for the Fourteenth Annual Pharmacy Alumni Association Golf Tournament. The tournament celebrated the success of the 2006-2007 PAA scholarship drive, which raised more than $60,000 for student scholarships.

The team of Mickey Price ('73 BSPhar), Sam Rumfelt, Andy Stoker, and Steve Bedford ('83 BSPhar) took first place (pictured above). Ronny Buchanan ('62 BSPhar), Revis Eller ('65 BSPhar), Wayne Neal, and Dean Emeritus Bill Campbell comprised the second place team. The team of Sterling Koonce ('87 BSPhar), Michael Payne, Robbie Hopkins, and Alan Carroll placed third.

Skip Woody won the prize for the longest drive. Harry Dutton, Richard Sapienza, Phil Cates ('89 BSPhar, '98 PharmD), and Andy Stoker won the closest-to-the-pin competition.

2007 50plus Club Reunion

Things were quite different for UNC pharmacy students in 1957. The School was housed in Howell Hall, and only six women were admitted each year into the School. It was also the year the UNC men’s basketball team won its first Atlantic Coast Conference tournament championship and went on to defeat the University of Kansas in triple overtime to win the NCAA championship.

Eight members of the Class of 1957 joined existing 50plus Club members on May 12 to relive these old memories and share the stories of their lives since graduation. More than fifty people attended the reunion, which featured a luncheon provided by The Barbecue Joint and a short program where Class of ’57 members had the opportunity to speak.
