When buying a computer at the School of Pharmacy, we highly recommend that you purchase one of the
official CCI (Carolina Computing Initiative) computers. These come with a 3 year warranty and offer expanded services available campus wide.

Why buy a CCI computer?

CCI computers have the following benefits:
•    A full 3-year warranty on department computers (student computers come with a 4-year warranty) Note: the warranty does not cover damage caused by abuse or spillage
•    An insurance policy covering fire and lightening damage (student computers come with a comprehensive insurance policy)
•    A complete software package, including Microsoft Office XP Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
•    Pre-tested and approved compatibility with the Carolina campus network
•    Built-in Wireless Connectivity (for laptops)- connect to the internet almost anywhere on campus, inside or outside
•    CD Read/Write and DVD drives
•    An on-campus repair center
•    CCI computers are supported by the School of Pharmacy IT department and additional support is provided by the university 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 962-HELP (962-4357).

What if I buy a non-CCI computer?

You may choose to buy a non-CCI computer, but you will only receive limited support if something goes wrong with your computer. The School of Pharmacy IT support staff cannot guarantee that they will be able to repair or replace any non-working parts.

Where do I order my new CCI computer?

New CCI computer purchases can be made online from the CCI web site. UNC employees may choose from four different models consisting of a high-end and standard models in both desktop and laptop computers.
