Laptops in Kerr Hall

Kerr Hall classrooms will be equipped with network "drops" at each desktop. Many of you have laptops that you wish to access the Internet during these classes. Below you will see instructions on how to accomplish this. YOUR laptop's MAC address (Media Access Control) must be registered with campus before it will function in the classrooms. Once you have registered your mac address, you can access the Internet from any network drop on campus.

One note: You will not be able to access our network until the IT staff configures your machine. If you wish to do that, contact Dave Maldonado at dave_maldonado@unc.edu.

Registering your MAC address with UNC

To register your MAC address with UNC: (you must have a network card or port, the network port looks like a modem port only slightly larger)

To find our your MAC address, do the following:

  • In the open box, type cmd
  • At the prompt, type enter ipconfig/all
